Last week UMN in partnership with the LCP South Asia Network, hosted a Regional Youth Convention with the theme, 'Role of Youth in Building a Culture of Peace'. The convention brought together 80 delegates from nine member organisations representing Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and Nepal. The primary objectives of the convention were to provide a platform for sharing and learning from each other's experiences, fostering solidarity on peace, strengthening their conflict transformation skills, and celebrating diversity.
The convention featured three keynote speakers from India, Nepal, and Pakistan, with additional network members serving as facilitators. It offered numerous learning opportunities through parallel sessions on various themes, showcasing stories of significant change, cultural evening, a barbecue dinner, as well as excursions and shopping trips to the local markets in Kathmandu.
The convention commenced with an inauguration ceremony, during which UMN’s Executive Director Dhana Lama and Mr. Suresh Satapathy, Manager, LCP Secretariat lit a lamp and delivered welcome speeches. The event concluded by expressing gratitude to the delegates, reporters, translators, logistics managers, hotel staff, and the youth steering committee by Bal Kumari Gurung and Nishant Lawrence.
