Group Approach to Community Development: Achieving Effective Group Mobilisation
One of the prominent internationally accepted development strategies for achieving self-reliance of a community is through the formation of local groups and empowering/Mobilisation them as an actor of change. Despite being the principal development strategy, the effectiveness, and gaps in these group mobilisations is questioned time and again. This study thus looks at Self-Reliance Groups (SRG) of Child Centred Community Development Programme (CCCDP) of UMN to answer the following questions: What is the status of SRG? what factors and characteristics are associated with the ‘more successful’ and ‘less successful’ groups? What modalities, aspects and components required for effective SRG strengthen and functioning? Etc.
